Shortly before midnight, prosecutors said the woman’s ex-boyfriend, Nash, showed up, kicked in the door, hit the woman and began to search the house for Schwinn.
911 call
Schwinn called 911 and hid in the attic, waiting for police to arrive. Nearly 10 minutes into that phone call, a gunshot was heard followed by the sound of a person falling to the ground.
Police said the call recorded a man saying: “Why you gonna play with me? Get the (expletive) up (expletive) before I kill you. Get up, get up.” The line stayed open for another 10 minutes. Court filings state a man said: “I just popped him”

Children abducted
Prosecutors said Nash took the woman and her children and drove them to his mother’s house near 24th and Capitol, where he tried to get the woman to make up a story about what happened. That’s where police later found the children, but Nash was gone.
