1. STEPH REACHES 4,000 3s AS WARRIORS WIN 6TH STRAIGHT

Steph Curry was a 21-year-old rookie when he splashed his first career 3-pointer on Oct. 30, 2009 in his second career game.

On Thursday, in his final day as a 36-year-old, the NBA’s all-time leader in 3-pointers made became the first player to reach 4,000.

Curry entered Thursday’s game with the NorCal rival Kings — the 1,013th game of Steph’s career — needing two 3s to reach the milestone.

And that’s exactly what he ended up with, as the Warriors dropped the Kings 130-104 for their sixth straight win. | Recap

  • No. 3,999 came with 5:35 remaining in the 1st quarter as Curry got to an open spot on the left wing in transition and Jonathan Kuminga found him for a catch-and-shoot splash
  • No. 4,000 came with 8:19 left in the 3rd as a near-steal by the Kings turned into a scramble play and Moses Moody getting the ball to Curry on the right wing
  • A quick pump fake to elude a defender gave Curry an open look at the rim … and the rest is history. | See It From Inside The Arena | Hear The Crowd’s Ovation

  • Curry Postgame: “Special moment. To do it in front of my home fans. I felt the energy. It was special.”
  • Curry Walk Off: “Hit it on the number … It’s a really cool milestone. See how far we can push this thing, but definitely a special accomplishment
  • LeBron Reacts on X:🧑‍🍳4K from Trey is CRAZY!!!!! Congrats my brother!! That’s 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥@StephenCurry30”

Firing On All Cylinders: In addition to Curry’s history-making moment, the sixth-seeded Warriors also stayed red-hot, thanks to Draymond Green’s 23 points (inc. four 3s of his own) and 18 points from Kuminga in his first game since Jan. 4.

Bucks 126, Lakers 106: Giannis Antetokounmpo (24 pts, 12 reb, 9 ast) finished one dime shy of a triple-double as he led four Bucks with 20+ points to counter Luka Dončić’s highest-scoring game as a Laker (45 pts, 11 reb) and snap a three-game losing streak. | Recap

  • Luka 🤝 Kobe: Dončić joined Bryant as the only Lakers to record at least 45 points, 10 rebounds and seven 3s in a game. One of those 3s – a one-legged stepback – drew an epic reaction from Markieff Morris from the L.A. bench

3. LEAGUE PASS SPOTLIGHT: CAVS GO FOR SWEET 16 VS. GRIZZLIES

The Cleveland Cavaliers are one of seven teams in NBA history with at least 55 wins through 65 games played. And they show no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

The Cavs are eyeing their 16th straight win as they head to Memphis to take on Ja Morant and the Grizzlies (8 ET). It’s the second time the Cavs have won 15 straight games after starting the season 15-0.

  • Sweet 16: The last team to win 16 straight in a season was the Milwaukee Bucks in 2022-23
  • By Committee: Cleveland is pacing to become the sixth team in NBA history to win 65+ games in a season without a player averaging 25+ ppg (Donovan Mitchell leads Cleveland at 24.2 ppg)
  • How Far Can They Go? Cleveland would need to finish the season 15-2 in order to capture 70 wins, joining the 1995-96 Bulls and the 2015-16 Warriors as the only teams to reach the feat

Both offenses have been exceptional – ranking 1st (Cavs 122.7) and 2nd (Grizzlies 122.6) in points per game – with each employing their own unique, and sometimes similar, strategies to get the job done.

  • Pass the Rock: Both teams are in the top eight for assists (Grizzlies 28.9, Cavs 28.4) and top nine for assists points created (Cavs 74.3, Grizzlies 73.2)
  • Efficient Buckets: Both teams rank in the top six in FG% (Cavaliers 49.4%, Grizzlies 48.1%)
  • To the Rack: The Grizzlies attack the transition game, leading the league in transition scoring (33.2 ppg) and ranking second in points off drives (32.6 ppg)
  • Mastering the PNR: Cleveland ball handlers score a league-high 24.8 ppg off pick-and-rolls

Calm Under Pressure: Darius Garland and Ja Morant continue to answer the call when their teams need them the most in clutch time. The stars are two of eight players in the NBA to score at least 70 points in the clutch on at least 45% shooting and 35% from three.

  • Garland leads the NBA with a plus/minus of +92 in the clutch
  • Morant leads the Grizzlies with a plus/minus of +44 in the clutch

4. NBA TV DOUBLEHEADER: PLAYOFF RIVALS MEET TONIGHT

Carmen Mandato/Getty Images

With the Playoffs quickly approaching, tonight’s NBA TV doubleheader – Celtics at Heat (7 ET) and Lakers at Nuggets (9:30 ET) – features two matchups rich with recent postseason history.

How much? How about seven combined Playoffs series since 2020.

  • Heat-Celtics: 2020 East Finals (MIA in 6), 2022 East Finals (BOS in 7), 2023 East Finals (MIA in 7); 2024 First Round (BOS in 5)
  • Lakers-Nuggets: 2020 West Finals (LAL in 5), 2023 West Finals (DEN in 4), 2024 First Round (DEN in 5)

Tonight’s Heat-Celtics matchup finds two teams in different postseason scenarios. Boston is firmly set at No. 2 – 8.5 back of No. 1 Cleveland, 4.5 up on No. 3 New York – while Miami is battling in the East Play-In.

  • Boston Bounce Back? The Celtics look to rebound from a loss to West-leading OKC on Wednesday, clinching a Playoff berth with a win and an Atlanta loss
  • A March Win? The Heat have lost five straight (and are 4-12 since the Jimmy Butler trade) as they seek their first win of the month to hold their Play-In position

Tonight’s Nuggets-Lakers matchup features two of the four teams separated by one game in a battle for Nos. 2-5 in the West.

  • Joker History: Nikola Jokić aims for his 30th triple-double of the season, a total only reached by Russell Westbrook, Oscar Robertson and Wilt Chamberlain in a single season
  • Elite Company: Jokić (29.0 ppg, 12.9 rpg, 10.4 apg) could also join Robertson and Westbrook as the only players to average a triple-double over a full season
  • A New Streak: On Feb. 22, L.A. ended a five-game regular-season losing streak to the Nuggets dating back to Jan. 2023. The Lakers will seek their second straight win over Denver as they try to snap a three-game losing streak overall

5. MONTH OF DOMINANCE ‘MARCH’ES ONWARD FOR WOLVES

Kelsey Grant/Getty Images

The Timberwolves have only known winning since February ended, opening March on a six-game winning streak.

Backed by Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle, they’ll welcome the Magic tonight (8 ET, League Pass).

  • Full Moon: Minnesota has been better across the board in March, most notably 1st in 3-pointers per game (19.3), 3-point percentage (43.3%) and Net Rating (14.9) and second in opponent ppg (107.2)
  • Leader Of The Pack: Edwards continues to set the pace with a career-high 27.2 ppg. His 1,742 total points this season trail only league-leading scorer Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (2,097)

Kelsey Grant/Getty Images

While Edwards runs the show in Minnesota, Randle has proven to be an ever-valuable X-factor when on the court.

  • The Randle Record: The Timberwolves have not lost since Jan. 22 with Randle in the lineup, winning five straight before his groin injury and beginning their current streak upon his return
  • All About The Margins: With 18.5 ppg and 6.7 rpg in his last 11 games, Randle is below his season-long marks of 18.9 and 7.2, but has been a better facilitator with 9+ assists in three of the last four games
  • Secret Sauce: Across the last 11 contests with Randle in the fold, Minnesota carries a 120.2 OffRtg, 111.4 DefRtg and 50.4 FG% – all three marks higher than without him in February
  • Can the Wolves keep it going against a Magic team coming off a 20-point win on Thursday as they battle to hold their Play-In spot in the East?

Playoff implications abound tonight, highlighted by two key matchups between postseason candidates in Hawks-Clippers (7:30 ET) and Rockets-Mavs (8 ET).

Rounding out the eight-game League Pass slate: Pacers at 76ers (7 ET), Hornets at Spurs (8 ET), Raptors at Jazz (9:30 ET), Kings at Suns (10 ET)
