Detroit — After veteran cornerback Carlton Davis III left the game with a concussion/jaw injury, the Detroit Lions lost a second member of their secondary in Sunday’s highly anticipated showdown with the Buffalo Bills.
Cornerback Khalil Dorsey collided with teammate and linebacker Ezekiel Turner, suffering a severe ankle injury that instantly warranted an air cast and a cart coming out to help the injured player. He was ruled out of the game not long after.
CBS sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson reported early in the second half that Dorsey was transported to a local hospital. Lions coach Dan Campbell confirmed after the game that Dorsey suffered a similar injury to Aidan Hutchinson. Hutchinson suffered a broken tibia and fibula in the team’s Week 6 win against the Dallas Cowboys.
“He is gonna be out for the year. It’s a tough injury,” Campbell said.
Dorsey, who joined the Lions during the 2023 offseason, has played in 13 games this season and is the Lions’ best gunner on special teams. He started at cornerback for the Lions in a Thanksgiving Day win against the Chicago Bears and also made 13 appearances for the Lions last season.
“Dorsey I think is, if not the best, one of the best gunners in this league,” Campbell said earlier this season. “He’s always causing some type of disruption or a penalty.”
