Bucknuts Expert Roundtable: How Ohio State fares against Tennessee in College Football Playoff first round

Things did not go well the last time Ohio State took the field. We don’t need to rehash what happened against Michigan. Anyone reading this knows.

However, the Buckeyes’ season did not end with that game. While the Scarlet and Gray failed to beat the Wolverines and missed out on the Big Ten Championship Game for the fourth consecutive year, Ohio State is in the College Football Playoff field and has a chance to compete for a national championship.

On Saturday night, the eighth-seeded Buckeyes host No. 9 seed Tennessee. It will be the first postseason and December game at Ohio Stadium.

The Scarlet and Gray are favorites heading into this game. But since this matchup was announced, many “experts” have picked the Volunteers to come to Columbus and spring the upset.

Ohio State’s loss to Michigan is nearly three weeks old. How much is it still in your mind as you think about Saturday’s game?

Dave Biddle: It dissipates a little bit with each passing day. However, that is a debacle that we will never forget. Worst offensive game plan I can recall and what made matters worse was OSU never adjusted that plan. A win against Tennessee would go a long way in making the Michigan loss more tolerable, but as it stands, that’s the type of game that sticks with you.

Dan Rubin: It comes and goes. I do catch myself in the mirror shaking my head in continued disbelief.
