CNN reported Tuesday that American Airlines asked the FAA for a ground stop on all of its flights in the United States.

The airline was dealing with a “technical issue,” the network said.

“Our team is working to get this rectified so that you can be safely on your way to your family,” American responded on X to a person who said their flight from Nashville, Tennessee, was going back to the gate and passengers were getting off.

At least two American Airlines flights from Rhode Island T.F. Green Airport showed a flight status of “Check with Airline.”

The disruption came during the busy holiday travel period.
