Tigers predicted to land $189 million Astros All-Star

The Detroit Tigers had a very entertaining second half of the 2024 season. After selling at the trade deadline and falling to 53-65, they went on an unprecedented run to secure the third American League Wild Card spot.

After losing the ALDS to the Cleveland Guardians, Detroit needs to make some moves in the offseason. They have a strong foundation in place, but need to supplement it with some star players.

Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report predicts that Detroit will ultimately sign Alex Bregman.

“Bregman would reunite with former Astros manager A.J. Hinch at a time when he has the Tigers on the rise. It wasn’t until late in 2024 that Detroit became a contender, but it doesn’t feel like a fluke after so many years of rebuilding,” Rymer wrote.

“As for dollars and cents, well, the Tigers used to spend twice as much on payroll as they did in 2024. Time to get back to that, guys.”

Detroit won 86 games during the regular season, and the possible addition of Bregman could push them further along as they try to compete with the Guardians for an AL Central title in 2025.

The team is certainly on the rise, and with a strong young core, they could use a veteran presence like Bregman in their clubhouse as they look to take the next step in the future.

Bregman and Hinch had a lot of success together in Houston, including two AL pennants and a World Series title. Perhaps they can have similar success together in Detroit.
