The Epic Games Store‘s eighth free mystery game is 2019’s Control. December is always an exciting month for Epic Games Store users, as that’s when they are treated to the platform’s biggest free giveaway promotion. The annual event gives Epic Games Store users the chance to claim a wide variety of free games for their digital libraries as a way to celebrate the holidays and count down to the new year.
This year, the Epic Games Store free mystery game promotion kicked off with The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, followed by Vampire Survivors, Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles, TerraTech, Wizard of Legend, Dark and Darker – Legendary Status, and the critically-acclaimed fishing horror game Dredge. Dredge has since been cycled out of the Epic Games Store free games lineup and replaced by the latest free game.

The Epic Games Store free mystery game for December 25 is Control. Released in 2019 by Remedy Entertainment, Control is an award-winning third-person shooter that helps connect the greater Remedy gaming universe. Control‘s action-packed gameplay earned it a great deal of praise at the time of its release in 2019, with many considering it one of the best games to ever come from the acclaimed studio. Epic Games Store users can now claim Control completely free of charge as long as they do so by Thursday, December 26 at 10:00am CST (the EGS launcher actually says 11:00am CST right now, but that appears to be an error according to the countdown to the next free game). At that point, Control will be removed from the EGS free games lineup and replaced with the next title, whatever it may be.
