Thursday’s College Football Playoff Orange Bowl semifinal between No. 6 Penn State and No. 7 Notre Dame was delayed briefly due to trash being thrown onto the field at Hard Rock Stadium following a controversial defensive pass interference call against the Irish.
The delay occurred at the 8:48 mark of the fourth quarter, with Adon Shuler being called for defensive pass interference against Penn State tight end Tyler Warren. The penalty wiped away a Jack Kiser interception of Penn State quarterback Drew Allar.

Two players after the brief delay on the field, Penn State running back Nick Singleton recorded his third rushing touchdown of the night to put the Nittany Lions back up in front of the Irish at 24-17.
Here’s another look of the trash being thrown:
Singleton’s scoring drive was set up by an interception from Penn State’s Dani Dennis-Sutton, who picked off Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard on first-and-10 following Singleton’s second score of the night.
On its next drive, Notre Dame tied the game at 24-24 on a 54-yard touchdown pass from Leonard to Jaden Greathouse.
