Daredevil: Born Again’s Mayor Fisk storyline won’t end like the comics, says Vincent D’Onofrio.
Daredevil: Born Again — a new MCU series that serves as a continuation to the Netflix Daredevil series — premieres on Disney+ this coming March. The show sees Charlie Cox reprise his role as Matt Murdock, while D’Onofrio is once again playing Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.
Per Entertainment Weekly, D’Onofrio says viewers should expect the unexpected when it comes to Fisk’s storyline in Daredevil: Born Again.
“Anything on our show is, nine out of 10 times, leading to something that’s even bigger and crazier,” he said. “For Fisk, this journey is a path to more control.”
Entertainment Weekly’s article also notes that Daredevil: Born Again won’t end the same way Fisk’s mayoral stint did in the comics.
In Marvel Comics, Fisk became mayor of New York City by announcing himself as a last-minute candidate and then avoiding any questions about his criminal behavior. He held the title for a good amount of time, too, until he was arrested after an intense confrontation with Daredevil and Elektra in the “Devil’s Reign” storyline. He isn’t incarcerated for very long, though Fisk does make an effort to retire from crime and settle down with Typhoid Mary after that.
“In Marvel Television’s “Daredevil: Born Again,” Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer with heightened abilities is fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) pursues his own political endeavors in New York. When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course,” the synopsis for Daredevil: Born Again reads.
The cast also includes Margarita Levieva, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini, Ayelet Zurer, and Jon Bernthal.
Marvel‘s Daredevil: Born Again premieres on Disney+ on March 4, 2025.
