Apple TV+ engaged in some dystopian performance art to promote the second season of its hit show Severance.
On Jan. 14 at Grand Central Terminal in New York, actors Adam Scott, Britt Lower, and Zach Cherry appeared as their Severance characters in a pop-up glass cube resembling an office cubicle.
They caught people’s attention as they performed mundane office activities, such as working on computers and cleaning the carpet.
Severance executive producer and director Ben Stiller, actress Patricia Arquette, and others captured photos from the stunt and shared them on social media.
Season 2 of Severance premieres on Friday (Jan. 17). The Apple TV+ science fiction series depicts a company called Lumon, where employees have undergone a procedure that divides their work memories from their personal lives.
Severance has remained one of the streamer’s most in-demand shows since its debut in 2022. The first season garnered acclaim for Apple TV+, including 14 Emmy Award nominations and Best Drama and Best New Series at the 2023 Writers Guild Awards.
In the ever-competitive streaming landscape, streamers have gone to increasingly great lengths to promote their shows, often blurring the lines between advertising and the real world. Last month, for example, Netflix staged a series of immersive experiences globally to hype Squid Game season 2.
