Capital One technical issue delays payments for users: What to know

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Some Capital One users were still waiting to receive deposits and payments on Friday morning after the company experienced a processing disruption.

According to Downdetector, Capital One customers have been reporting issues with deposits and account balances since Thursday.

As of 7 a.m. Friday morning more than 2,000 people reported still having issues, 88% of which were with deposits, Downdetector shows.

In a statement emailed to customers on Thursday night, Capital One representatives said the banking company began experiencing disruptions on Tuesday due to a technical issue with one of their service providers.

“Specifically, this has delayed processing of some transactions including direct deposits and Early Pay credit for direct deposits, as well as electronic payments and transfers (ACH),” the statement said.

A social media post from Capital One went on to say that the issues with a third-party vendor were also impacting small businesses and commercial bank accounts.

According to the company, a majority of issues are expected to be resolved by Friday morning.

Any users who still need assistance are advised to call the number on the back of their debit card or visit a Capital One Branch or Café.

Earlier this week a U.S. watchdog group sued Capital One for allegedly misleading customers about high-interest savings accounts. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau accused the banking company of cheating customers out of more than $2 billion in lost interest payments.
