DENVER — After Tuesday’s impactful morning snow, Wednesday will be much quieter with a high near 40 degrees in Denver and mostly sunny skies ahead of more snow Thursday.
It will be very cold Wednesday morning across Colorado, with overnight lows dropping down to around 10 degrees in Denver, tying it for Denver’s coldest morning so far this winter season.
There will also be patchy fog north of Denver near Fort Collins and Greeley, and a Dense Fog Advisory until 10 a.m. Wednesday. Otherwise, the weather will be mainly quiet on Wednesday.
A cold front will approach Colorado from the northwest late Wednesday. That will bring big changes for the commute Thursday morning.
Expect light snow to develop before or around the morning rush hour, with a trace to three inches of snow likely around the metro area Thursday morning.
The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team has issued a Weather Impact Day for Thursday morning because of the potential for snow during the morning commute.
Any snow should be done by early Thursday afternoon, with mountain snow showers lingering through the day. It will be cold otherwise, and Colorado will stay chilly over the next six to seven days under persistent northwesterly flow.
The mountains will get some light snow on Thursday, with heavier snow likely both days this weekend. That will continue what’s been an active month in the high country so far.
January cold has settled in and this “Stock Show weather” looks to continue into next week.
