- Rumors suggest a possible DLC for Black Myth: Wukong, with Game Science hinting at “surprises” for fans in the future.
The popular Black Myth: Wukong is finally receiving an update with official PS5 Pro support, which is excellent news for fans of the Chinese action title. The update will be part of a larger patch, which is already available for the Epic Games Store and WeGame versions of Black Myth: Wukong.
Black Myth: Wukong has been a huge global hit since its release in August. Developed by the Chinese studio Game Science, the game was nominated for five categories in the Game Awards 2024. Black Myth: Wukong won the Best Action Game and Player’s Voice categories, but lost to Astro Bot in Game of the Year and Best Game Direction, and to Metaphor: ReFantazio in Best Art Direction.

Now, Game Science has revealed update 1.0.12.16581 for Black Myth: Wukong, which brings several features, including PS5 Pro support, and will be available on December 14. With the patch, Black Myth: Wukong will support PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), which allows gamers to achieve better graphics in both Quality and Balanced Mode. PSSR has presented some issues with games such as Silent Hill 2, however, so luckily, it can be toggled off. Also, with the update, the game supports a 120 Hz output and maintains a stable 40 FPS in Balanced Mode. The update also improves input response in Performance Mode and optimizes the performance of several boss fights.
The update also adds several features to both the PC and PS5 versions of the game, including the new “Challenge” gameplay mode, which can be found at any Keeper’s Shrine, and allows gamers to fight former opponents in three difficulty levels, or to face multiple opponents in succession. Other features include new equipment, a soundtrack selection option, and multiple bug fixes.
It’s good to see Black Myth: Wukong receiving continuous updates, especially considering how successful the game was. Reports indicate that Black Myth: Wukong sold over 20 million copies in a single month, becoming one of the most popular games of 2024.
A few weeks ago, Game Science producer Feng Ji revealed that Black Myth: Wukong may have some “surprises” for fans in the near future, fueling rumors of a possible DLC. While this is still all speculation at this point, there are already rumors that Game Science is planning to release a DLC near the Chinese New Year, which falls on January 29, 2025, so time will tell if Black Myth: Wukong players will get more content soon.
