Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer (CFO) William White revealed that the Walmart logo redesign reflected the evolution of its capabilities. It also reflected what they now offered customers.

“Walmart aims to be an inspirational, digital retailer that provides all the products, brands and services our customers need and want,” White said in a statement published on the official website. “This update, rooted in the legacy of our founder, Sam Walton, demonstrates our evolving capabilities and longstanding commitment to serve our customers of today and tomorrow,” he continued. White added that the redesign also reflected the principles pushed by founder Sam Walton.

White, however, mentioned in an interview with Fortune, that the logo redesign was not a “rebrand.” It was instead a “refresh” to reflect their current identity. It also reflected their venture into the e-commerce and digital marketplace.

The “Walmart” in the retailer’s new logo now has thicker lettering and broader stems on its iconic yellow-sunlike sparks. Other major changes to the brand include a deeper blue background and a brighter yellow color on the sunlike sparks. This new logo is expected to show up on the retailer’s online and physical storefronts, and its new home office in Bentonville, Arkansas this month.

Cybercitizens had all kinds of thoughts when it came to Walmart’s logo redesign, airing them on social media. One user expressed on X (Twitter), his opinion that the new logo was akin to designs seen on a “milk carton.” However, they acknowledged that the deeper blue tones of the new logo felt “modern” and “friendly.”
