Liverpool vs Fulham LIVE – score updates and analysis

Liverpool are back in Premier League action today when the Reds face Fulham at Anfield. Marco Silva’s side have proven to be a tricky test this season and took points from Arsenal last weekend.

The Reds sit four points clear of Chelsea at the top of the table after last weekend’s Merseyside derby was called off due to Storm Darragh and they will be keen to ensure there are no slip-ups at Anfield as they continue their busy festive schedule.

Arne Slot is boosted by the return of Diogo Jota, who should be fit enough for a place on the bench. Federico Chiesa is also nearing a return and Alisson Becker will start his first Premier League game since a hamstring injury suffered against Crystal Palace in October.

Fulham are without a number of key players, including captain Tom Cairney and Calvin Basse, who are both suspended while the latter’s centre-back partner Joachim Andersen is injured along with Reiss Nelson and Harrison Reed.

Ian Doyle, Paul Gorst and Theo Squires will be in attendance to bring you build-up, live updates and reaction to a huge game for the league leaders.

Delighted to have some back, we’ve had injuries. To have them at this moment is helpful. We just brought in the players who can score, see them working so hard off the ball, to keep other team away from goal was great to see. Harvey had impact too.

If I look back at the 100 minutes, I wasn’t surprised he [the referee] didn’t give a red card.

I think it’s exactly the opposite of the Girona game, where I was pleased with the result but not the performance. Today, I am very pleased with the performance, I couldn’t have asked for more.

17:50Keifer MacDonald

Playing against Salah, lots of situations in 1v1 and with a yellow card…what a performance.

Mixed feelings. When you are leading and Liverpool are playing with 10 men, you get a feeling that we should have won the game.

Arsenal failed to gain ground on Liverpool this afternoon as they were held to a 0-0 by Everton at the Emirates.

Elsewhere, Newcastle thrashed Leicester City 4-0, while Ipswich claimed an important win over fellow strugglers Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Nottingham Forest vs Aston Villa, meanwhile, has just got underway at the City Ground in the day’s late kick-off.

Arne Slot will serve a one-match suspension after being issued a third yellow card since taking over as Liverpool head coach.

The Dutchman was cautioned in his side’s meeting with Fulham after taking issue with one decision from referee Tony Harrington.

Having seen Curtis Jones booked for a sliding tackle on Alex Iwobi, Slot was a very animated figure on the sidelines as he made his frustrations clear.

It may be harsh to say Liverpool missed Diogo Jota – considering they won nine out of the 11 games in his absence – but he brings a completely different dynamic to the front line. Crucial that he stays fit.

Goals from Gakpo and the returning Jota earn the Reds a share of the points. Not a bad point considering how Liverpool started the game.

It’s Fowler-esque from Jota, who takes in Nunez’s pass, turns his defender before coolly slotting home. 2-2. A huge goal in this season. Can Liverpool go and win this now?
