Jaxson Dart and the Ole Miss Rebels went out with a statement win in the 2024-2025 season. The Rebels mercilessly throttled the Duke Blue Devils on national TV, winning 52-20 in their Gator Bowl matchup. Dart torched the Blue Devil secondary while taking some serious hits from their front seven. He completed 27 of his 35 passes for 404 passing yards, while tossing in four touchdowns on Thursday night.
And while Dart hasn’t received quite as much praise as other quarterbacks in the 2025 cycle like Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, one NFL scout is extremely high on the Ole Miss quarterback leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft.
“He’s gonna be a major steal in the draft. Throws the ball down the field as well as anyone, which I realize is kinda this lost skill in today’s game, but that’s what makes him interesting. Get Dart a couple speed guys and he can really hurt you,” according to one scout that spoke with Fox Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
He racked up 43 yards in the ground game on Thursday night, too. Dart’s standout performance was nothing new. In three years at Ole Miss, he became the program’s all-time passing leader, surpassing longstanding record-holder Eli Manning.
Jaxson Dart finished the 2024 campaign with 4,279 passing yards and 29 touchdowns while completing nearly 70% of his pass attempts. Now, Dart will hope to see his success translate to the next level. ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. listed Dart as the No. 7 quarterback in this year’s draft class in his latest NFL Draft Big Board.
Dart wrapped up his decorated SEC career finishing fourth all-time in SEC history in total offense. He’s only behind three players, Aaron Murray of Georgia (13,562 yards), Drew Lock of Missouri (12,630 yards), and Tim Tebow of Florida (12,232 yards). It makes Dart just the fourth player in SEC history to tally over 12,000 career yards.
Dart also shattered Chad Kelly’s single-season passing yardage record (4,042 passing yards) and his total offense record (4,542 total yards), both set in 2015.
