Patrick Mahomes proved to be spot on when he told the Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen they’ll play each other again back in November, as they prepare to meet in the AFC Conference Championship game on January 26.
Their regular season match at the Highmark Stadium was of the rare times the Chiefs walked off the field tasting the bitterness of defeat, as they slipped to a 30-21 loss. They would only lose once more, to the Denver Broncos with a heavily rotated team.
But on that night in November, microphones picked up Mahomes‘ prophecy and his ominous warning to his rival quarterback as he told Allen, “We’ll do it again, baby.” The 28-year-old, to his credit, nodded in agreement before going to celebrate.
Now that destiny is set in stone. After the Chiefs slipped by the Houston Texans 23-14 and the Bills fortunately edged out the Baltimore Ravens 27-25, the AFC West winners will meet the AFC East winners for a spot in the Super Bowl.

When is the Chiefs vs Bills?
The last time the pair met was in the AFC Divisional game in 2023/24 as the Chiefs ran out 27-24 winners, before going on to win another Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas.
Allen, who is likely to win the NFL 2024/25 MVP award, is 0-3 against Mahomes in the NFL Playoffs. However, he is 4-1 up in the regular season so he knows he can beat the 29-year-old from Tyler, Texas.
Mahomes has passed for 3,928 yards and 26 touchdowns this campaign, adding an extra 307 yards and two touchdowns through rushing. His pass completion percentage stands at 67.4 from 581 attempts.
Meanwhile, Allen has had a stellar season and has produced 3731 yards for 28 touchdowns whilst adding an extra 12 touchdowns through rushing, along with 531 yards. He’s allowed just six interceptions and has a 63.5% pass completion rate from 483 attempts.
They will meet at the Arrowhead Stadium on January 26, with kick-off expected from 18:30 ET/15:30 PT. The game will be live on CBS.
