Rose Bowl: 10 takes from Ohio State’s win over Oregon in College Football Playoff

PASADENA — Thanks to a flawless performance offensively against college football’s lone remaining unbeaten, Ohio State avenged a previous loss to Oregon in convincing fashion during Wednesday’s 41-21 beatdown of the Ducks in The Rose Bowl. Ohio State is heading to its third College Football Playoff semifinal appearance under Ryan Day after reaching the national championship game in 2020 and falling in Atlanta to Georgia to end the 2022 season.

The Buckeyes piled up 500 yards of total offense, avoided mistakes and frustrated Oregon’s offense throughout with a fierce pass rush. Rose Bowl MVP Jeremiah Smith finished with seven catches for 187 yards and two touchdowns, must of that damage coming during the Buckeyes’ 34-point explosion in the first half.

Ohio State looks the part as the national title frontrunner through its first two playoff games and is clicking on all cylinders for the first time all season at a heightened level.
