The Batman Sequel Delayed to 2027 Because Writing Is Really Hard, Actually

All you kids using ChatGPT to do your homework, take note: Writing is hard! And good writing is especially difficult. It’s a skill worth developing now, because someday you may be tasked with writing a script for the highly anticipated sequel to The Batman. That’s the situation Matt Reeves is facing, as the film’s release date has been pushed back by Warner Bros. in light of the script not yet being completed. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the release date is October 1, 2027, with the film not set to go into production until late 2025. DC Studio co-chief James Gunn addressed the story on Threads and confirmed that Reeves is still in the writing stage. “The only reason for the delay is there isn’t a full script (those of you who follow me here probably know that already),” he wrote. “Matt is committed to making the best film he possibly can, and no one can accurately guess exactly how long a script will take to write.” You simply cannot rush real art, folks!
