The series follows main character Donny as he navigates life with a stalker and pursues his dream of becoming a famous comedian. Donny often leans on girlfriend Teri, a therapist who is played by San Antonio-raised actress Nava Mau.
Mau was born in Mexico City and attended Health Careers High School while living in San Antonio, Texas Monthly reported.
Jessica Gunning, who portrayed stalker Martha, snagged a second Golden Globe for the show with a win for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role on Television.
“Baby Reindeer” is inspired by the lived experience of lead actor Richard Gadd, who was also nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television. Gadd ultimately lost the Golden Globe to Colin Farrell for “The Penguin.”

The show’s success at the Golden Globes follows a historic Emmy nomination and four wins in September. Mau was nominated for best supporting actress in a limited or anthology series or movie, making her the first transgender woman nominated in the category.
At the Emmy Awards, “Baby Reindeer” was honored for best limited or anthology series and best casting, picture editing, and writing. Gadd and Gunning also earned trophies for best actor and best supporting actress.
