US Constituition appears to be missing from the White House website

Several social media users on Tuesday pointed out that the US Constitution appeared to have been removed from the White House website just a day after President Donald Trump’s inauguration. After checking, we found these claims to be accurate. A search for the Constitution on the White House website currently leads to a “404 – Page Not Found” error.

The White House is yet to issue a formal statement, explaining the ‘404 error’. Posting a screenshot on X, platform formerly known as Twitter, one social media user asked: “random question here.. but what does it mean when that the US constitution has been taken off the governments website?”

“The US government website’s constitution section currently turns up as a 404 error. I have kittle doubt this is a coincidence and expect to see it changed or potentially removed/doctored,” another one added.

This comes after several critics, including the German ambassador to Washington, spoke about Trump challenging the US constitution. Ambassador Andreas Michaelis wrote in a report back to Berlin that he expects the president to undermine the system of democratic checks. He further added that Trump’s agenda would rob the legislative branch, law enforcement and media of their independence.

Michaelis wrote that Trump’s agenda is to bring a ‘maximum concentration of power in the hands of the president at the expense of Congress and the states’. His policy “of maximum disruption, the breaking up of the established political order and bureaucratic structures as well as his plans for revenge ultimately mean a redefinition of the constitutional order’.
